Hair Lust

Hair Lust,” is a series of drawings by illustrator Laura Rosenbaum. She is debuting her collection at the opening of HurlyBurly, the Graduate Illustration group show opening at the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology on June 7, 2011.

Laura portrays characterizations of hair envy, lust, and fascination in her sketchbook. Using lines and simple poetry, she expresses how women feel about their different hair textures and how they use their manes to define themselves. Describing the project, Rosenbaum stated: “Nothing else quite compares to the way a girl sees herself through her hair. My capstone project, ‘Hair Lust,’ is a series of intimate drawings and prose about the introspective relationship between girls and their hair.”

“My drawings speak to this magical fiber, its silky lure, and all the yearning it induces. Whether it is curly, straight, wavy, kinky, fluffy, or thin, it slides, bounces, and dances, creating a life of its own,” she continued.

The images in “Hair Lust” present beauty through a spectrum of different hair types. Sometimes humorous and sometimes longing, Rosenbaum’s drawings and prose flirt with magic and desire.

Trend Alert!! Rompers!

This Summer rompers are fast becoming one of the hot weather must haves. I can totally understand why. They are flawlessly sexy looking and feminine while still giving you the sportiness of shorts. Which totally agrees with me in this heat.

The great thing about them is that they come in so many styles. You can dress them up or down, and on occasion even wear them to the beach. I'm sure i got your attention there :) Lots of Hollywood seems to be enjoying this trend.

Kourtney Kardashion took the indie clothing route (which I love!!) and rocked a floral romper by Lucca Couture.

Elle fanning arrived at the MTV movie awards in a floral version too with a more of a retro style flair to it by D&G. I love how its belted!

Trend Alert: HYPER COLOR

With summer in full bloom, we are having bright colors in our face, wherever we turn! We have seen it all over the runways and now we see them in clothing stores and boutiques like Messes Of Dresses! The actual color doesn't matter it can be yellow, purple or green, as long as it's an eye popping shade. Throw on any of the many bright hues that are available, and your ready to hit the streets.

Some of our fave celebs are wearing this look and i love how they do it. Take Blake Lively for instance, yeah shes been in the media lately for all the wrong reasons. But here we see no controversy, shes done it right by mixing up the electric blue dress and purple pumps at the MTV Movie Awards last night.

Socialite Olivia Palermo always knows how to look prim and proper and oh so classy.  She took a plain looking gray and black outfit and made it pop with her fuchsia colored blazer. She stepped it up even more by pairing it with fabulous bright green pumps.

Mischa Barton draws attention to her better half by wearing a super trendy pleated skirt and oh so bright yellow.  Her retro style top really plays off well with its subtle yellow bugs fluttering about. (loving the top button closure on it) Her shoes, while totally fitting the brightness trend we are loving, they don't seem to compliment the outfit. We will give her some credit for being brave and trying the trend.

MessesOfDresses.com has fabulous trendy dresses and tops in beloved bright hues!  Some of my favorite picks from our warehouse below.

The Celebrity Jegging

So it's starting to get real hot out and we are going for the shorty shorts and the barely there clothing. Who can blame you? Regardless of the heat, we seem to not be getting enough of the Jegging. Cool yet has a tight fit and keeps us covered when we are not feeling in the mood of full exposure.

There is no better way to do it. Our favorite celebrities seem to know how. They are all dashing for the Denimocracy jean legging. So trendy yet so easy to pull off. It's soft and stretchy like a legging, yet still has the structure of a jean. Featuring its front zip fly, button closure and back pockets. They are comfortable enough to do some yoga and so trendy, that you can go clubbing. All while wearing the same versatile pair of jeggings.

Check out how these celebrities rock this style.
